Words to ponder
I am shocked to realise that in four generations there are so few of us! Four generations and less than 50 people!!! Now I believe that we have moved away from Afrikan tradition of having many kids. At this rate eight generations will be less than 100 people. Scary statistic. So for you family planners out there, you better take note. Case for sethepu?
The Rest
I probably could have written this in one language, but for fairness of both my languages, I had to write in both isiXhosa and Sesotho. But nothing beats reading lineage in Sesotho! The recount and recollection fits so well that a wide lineage can be covered with such little being said.
I would like to expand on the family tree and introduce a proper algorithm, excuse the techno thought, that will take care of the relations between individuals. Henceforth such a system can be used by anyone to track his/her lineage in a convenient manner.
I notice that my recollection only covers four generations on both sides of my family. I hope to ask around and learn more about other generations before my grand parents. Generations higher up were not around when I was born, so I can't say I know any!
One day I would like to put together some writings on our movements as a clan. Firstly for obsivious reasons of the impact of apartheid South Afrika on my clan. Secondly I think it would make a fascinating reading due to our migration patterns. Especially considering that now exists the following nations in my clan: amaXhosa(obviously), Basotho, amaZulu, Batswana and Batsonga. So my lineage covers three countires: South Afrika, Botswana and Lesotho(which is not exactly true if I must account history properly. Land boundaries were vastly different to what apartheid South Afrika make people to believe today.)
A Little Bragging
