What Drives Me

What a loaded question!

Many people say I am too removed, cautious, distant and logical. Looks indeed can be deceiving. They clearly do not know me. I am actually the opposite of all these.

Essentially I am a risk taker, sometimes just for the thrill of it. I love challenges and to me no problem is unsumountable. I am an ideas person. A thinker, henceforth a dreamer. Call me a strategist/executioner if you like. Calculated risks though, by my calculation of course!

But what I have in drive, I seem to lack in patience. I am a results driven person who always looks at the outcome. I am therefore severy impatient when it comes to office politics. I do not want to play politics and I make no effort to be part of them. Software development is about delivery and change management. This is probably the reason for my lack of progress in the corporate environment. I get bored easily if not engaged meaningfully.

Competency is important to me. People must be worth their keep. I also strongly believe potential must be developed to full capacity and I will always mentor and support anyone who shows potential. I do not strive for perfection nor do I expect it from other people. Being good at what I do is good enough for me. I favour efficiency over perfection. Commitment is important too, otherwise you may loose focus of your priorities.

I am a non conformist. I always have the urge to break the rules! I make it difficult for people to realise rules have been broken. Did I mention I am opinionated? I am always ready to share my views, provided people are willing to listen. Remember I come from the teachings of Pan Afrikanism where an important rule is "anywhere anytime, put the line across."

People must try to understand one another, no matter our differences.
